Techtype is a specialist software development agency building complex SaaS platforms and emerging-tech products for a small number of clients.

2023-Now

Founding Engineer & Director (Fullstack)

  • Ran day-to-day operations, owned hiring, and planned staff growth.
  • Balanced hands-on engineering and technical architecture with team leadership and mentoring.
  • Led delivery for cross-functional squads (1 designer, up to 6 developers): planning, technical direction, code reviews, and hands-on implementation.
  • Built a multi-tenant, serverless SaaS platform foundation using SST (Serverless Stack) with infrastructure-as-code and a focus on extensibility.
  • Implemented baseline platform capabilities including auth/RBAC and tenant isolation; partnered with security experts to review and validate the approach.

Cybercraft

Cybercraft provided cybersecurity audits and governance for businesses, and ran internal R&D to develop a secure platform framework (work that later became the foundation for Techtype).

2021-2023

Lead Engineer (Fullstack)

  • Led internal R&D to build a reusable framework designed to help teams ship faster with baseline security controls built in.
  • Led up to 4 engineers day-to-day (technical direction, reviews, and delivery).
  • Built core capabilities including auth/RBAC, tenant isolation, and secure defaults.
  • Embedded strong security practices into an internal SDK so teams got safer patterns by default.

2020-2021

Digital Consultant

  • Delivered hands-on technical/development work across internal initiatives and client engagements.
  • Coordinated website penetration testing (scope, scheduling, findings handoff) and helped translate results into remediation priorities.
  • Consulted on technical options and tradeoffs for client-specific business problems.

Hatch (Flume)

Hatch (Flume) is a digital strategy and delivery consultancy helping organisations modernise operations and build new digital products.

2018-2019

Digital Strategist

  • First ~4 months: strategy/discovery/design work with clients (workshops, stakeholder interviews, and shaping direction).
  • Then shifted into delivery leadership: looked after a 4-person dev team in a Scrum Master capacity (planning, delivery cadence, removing blockers, stakeholder comms).
  • Owned CI/CD pipelines, deployments, infrastructure changes, and monitoring for a VPS-based stack (Docker Swarm, Traefik).

Yellow (Yellow Pages)

Yellow provides digital marketing and directory products for small businesses, including managed SEO services.

2017-2018

Digital Product Operations Manager

  • Coordinated delivery across internal teams and external suppliers/partners.
  • Supported launches and iteration cycles; commissioned improvements based on feedback and performance.

2016-2017

SEO Delivery Manager

  • Reworked legacy SEO delivery processes to improve consistency and reduce waste.
  • Reduced SEO product churn to zero within six months of process changes.
  • Improved margins by lowering cost-to-deliver.
